Recently while visiting Mumbai (India), I hired an Auto Rickshaw (3-wheeler cab). When I entered the cab, I found it perfectly neat, clean, and tidy. It even had a door that would close upon seating to provide additional sense of safety. I complemented the cab driver for keeping it in this way. His response made my day.
He said he spends 14 hours everyday in his cab and how can he
not keep it clean. "This cab is like a temple for me and every customer is God’s
manifestation in human form. I make sure that I serve my customers with this
attitude and earn their blessings besides my fare."
I was speechless. This cab driver just taught me how we all can
make our work a worship. Worship need not be confined within temples, churches,
mosques, gurdwaras, etc. Worship, indeed, can become our constant attitude in
whatever we do. The amount of blessings we would earn in this way will far
exceed the financial renumeration from the work performed.
